Several prominent independent petroleum marketers run various petrol pumps in Aba, the state’s commercial hub, offering their customers products at a pump price of ₦730-₦750 per litre.

Sales of Petroleum Motor Spirit (PMS) during the weekend were initially between ₦710-₦730.

There was no queue at some of the few petrol stations that opened on Monday, April 29, in spite of the Indigenous People of Biafra’s order to stay at home.

Some of the managers of the petrol stations refused to speak, thus further attempts to find out why the price of PMS changed so suddenly were fruitless.

However, a source at the Osisioma depot of the Nigeria National Petroleum Limited (NNPL) said that the sudden changes in pump price of the PMS could not have been unconnected to the crisis in Abuja.

According to the source, people who stand to benefit from the situation are sabotaging the scarcity of petroleum price.
