Nigerian hip-hop artiste Jude Abaga, popularly known as M.I, has named his greatest Nigerian rapper of all time.
The “One Naira” singer declared veteran rapper Mode 9 to be the greatest Nigerian rapper of all time in a recent episode of the Hip-hop To Afrobeats podcast.
He claims that because of his impact on the development of the genre and on upcoming artists, Mode 9 continues to be the most revered person in Nigerian rap.
“Mode 9 is always going to be the most respected Nigerian rapper of all time because he is a rapper that when you found him, you didn’t need to visit anybody else to improve your craft,” he stated.
M.I. called the veteran a legend, praising his commitment to his craft and his enormous contribution to Nigerian hip-hop.
Additionally, he emphasized Mode 9’s distinct style and artistic depth, pointing out that his approach to rap still stands out in the industry.
