Riley Moore, a congressman from the United States, has voiced worry about the recent killings in Plateau State and warned that more attacks on Christians in Nigeria could strain ties between the two nations.

Following allegations of a terrible Palm Sunday incident in Jos, when at least ten Christians were allegedly killed in Anguwan Rukuba, Moore issued the statement.

The legislator responded to the event in a post on Twitter, describing it as part of a concerning pattern of violence against Christians during religious holidays and pointing out that these incidents seem to happen frequently on important holy days.

Moore stated that “at least 53 Christians were murdered by Islamic radical terrorists in Nigeria on Palm Sunday, in two brazen attacks,” emphasizing that the situation is a reflection of growing instability.

He added that President Donald Trump had earlier threatened to step in if the Nigerian government did not deal with what he called “genocide.”

Moore continued, “We must put an end to the persecution and slaughter of our brothers and sisters in our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.”

The remarks coincide with increased international focus on security issues in some areas of Nigeria, especially in the North-Central region, where persistent sectarian and communal violence has resulted in a large number of fatalities and population relocation.
