In the Itunmeko neighbourhood of Ikorodu, Lagos State, a boy known only as Quadri was beaten to death by alleged cultists.

It was said that a dispute between several young people in the town who were thought to be suspected cults caused the violence to break out.

It is said that the deceased, who was also the son of the Alashe of Itunmoja in Ikorodu, was summoned from his home to the conflict site in order to mediate.

Due to the nature of the incident, a local who spoke on condition of anonymity claimed that things quickly got out of hand and that the victim and one of his companions were violently attacked.

Quadri’s buddies and a few local boys got into a fight that evening. One of Quadri’s friends called him to let him know what was happening as soon as it turned into a fight.

According to the resident, “Quadri went there to intervene, but the issue further escalated, and the boys descended on him and beat him until he became almost unresponsive”.

Quadri was left at the scene until several locals hurried him to the hospital for medical assistance.

“He was attended to when taken to the hospital, but later died due to the severity of the injuries he sustained during the attack.”

In the meantime, Quadri was not a member of the anti-cultism, it was said that the Eiye cultists controlled the region.

The son of a traditional ruler was assassinated in Ikorodu, Lagos State, according to the reports.

The event happened in Itunmeko, Ikorodu, an Eiye-dominated suburb, at around midnight on Saturday.

“A youngster named Quadri, the son of the Alashe of Itunmoja in Ikorodu, was among the young boys whom the attackers attacked.

It was stated that, “Quadri was described as a rugged street boy who was also a Yahoo boy and had many Eiye friends, but he was not a cultist.”

It further mentioned that Adio, Quadri’s companion, was battered during the assault but managed to survive.

“Quadri and another companion, Adio, also known as Ogbara, received severe beatings. Adio was said to have survived, but Quadri was taken to the hospital, where he subsequently passed away, it claimed.

It was disclosed that certain suspects had been detained in relation to the event, even though the police have not yet formally responded to it.

Abimbola Adebisi, the state police public relations officer, claimed she was unaware of the event when reached on Tuesday and pledged to follow up.

But at the time this report was filed, she hadn’t done so yet.
