For its 2027 primary elections, the Yobe state chapter of the All Progressives Congress has decided to use consensus.

At the conclusion of the party’s stakeholders’ meeting in Damaturu on Thursday, Senator Ahmed Lawan (Yobe North) made this statement to reporters.

He said that a consensus would be adopted for the primary elections for the State Assembly, National Assembly, and governorship.

“Yobe APC has chosen consensus over direct primary elections, one of the two methods outlined by the Electoral Act.

Additionally, based on our prior experiences, reaching an agreement has always benefited us in this position.”

Lawan declared, “Everyone in this party will support any candidate who emerges in any position, including aspirants who may have wished they were the ones chosen.”

According to the stakeholder, the party has internal channels for contacting unsuccessful candidates.

He promised that the party would provide more votes for its candidates in the National and State Assembly elections, as well as 3.5 million votes for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.

During the meeting, the stakeholders overwhelmingly supported Tinubu for a second term in office, according to the News Agency of Nigeria.

According to Governor Mai Mala Buni, the state has greatly benefited from the various initiatives, programs, and policies of the federal government under the president’s leadership. (NAN)
