Isa Kalanjeni, the Chairman of Tangaza Local Government Area in Sokoto State, has left the All Progressives Congress and has relinquished his role as chairman.
The advancement was enclosed in two distinct letters released by Kalanjeni and provided to reporters in Sokoto on Tuesday.
In the initial letter, dated May 5, 2026, directed to the APC Ward Chairman of Kalanjeni Ward in Tangaza Local Government Area, Kalanjeni declared his resignation from the governing party effective immediately.
He announced, “I would like to officially notify you of my choice to step down from the APC effective immediately.”
Elaborating on his choice, he stated, “This choice stems from entirely personal motives.” I am grateful for the chance provided to me to join the party.
In another letter dated July 7, 2026, directed to the Secretary of the Sokoto State Government and the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Kalanjeni also declared his resignation as the elected Executive Chairman of Tangaza Local Government Area.
The document, named ‘Resignation Letter as Executive Chairman of Tangaza Local Government Area,’ indicated that his resignation is effective immediately.
“Kindly consider this letter as official notice that I am stepping down from my role as Executive Chairman of Tangaza Local Government Area, effective immediately starting today,” he stated.
Justifying the choice, Kalanjeni stated, “This challenging decision has been made following thorough discussions with my family, important political allies, and community representatives.”
He also mentioned administrative limitations, stating, “Because of recent unavoidable administrative issues, I realize that I can no longer fulfill the duties of this position to the high standard expected of me.”
He expressed his appreciation to the council members, stating, “I am extremely thankful to the voters, the legislative body of the council, and all the staff for the honor and chance to serve our community.” I hope the new leadership and administration achieve ongoing success.
At the time of this report’s submission, no official statement had been released regarding the resignations by either the Sokoto State Government or the APC in the state.
