Armed men kidnaped Oreoluwa Osonuga, a 33-year-old poultry farmer, at the Ikenne Farm Settlement in Ogun State on Sunday afternoon at around 12:05 p.m.
The chairman of the farm settlement, Seye Kehinde, announced Onuga’s kidnapping in a statement on Monday.
Kehinde claims that the abductors made a brief contact with the victim’s family on Sunday, requesting N500 million in exchange for his release.
Part of the statement stated, “The farm settlement in Ikenne witnessed an ugly situation this afternoon (12:05pm), as one of our members was kidnapped, Mr. Oreoluwa Osonuga a man who is roughly thirty-three years old.
As he was leaving the farm, he was confronted by gunmen who shot at his car and pushed him into the bush. He is a chicken farmer. Security staff were invited right away, and they responded right away.
Additionally, military personnel from Ilese were sent in to search the jungle, but they were unsuccessful.
We are using this medium to stay vigilant and to keep the community aware of our plight.”
Two days after the farmer was kidnaped, he pointed out that no significant progress had been made despite the police, anti-kidnapping units, military, and other security personnel working nonstop.
“Today is Day 2,” he added. No noteworthy progress has been made in the rescue or release of Oreoluwa Osonuga, who was abducted.
Since the brief conversation with the victim’s father’s cousin yesterday evening (Sunday) at around 5 p.m., during which a N500 million ransom demand was issued, there has been no more communication from the kidnappers.

It is documented that one of the farmers in the Settlement was abducted on April 1, 2026, four months ago. After paying a ransom, he was freed after being held captive for several days.
Soga Osonuga, the victim’s granduncle, corroborated the occurrence and said it caused the family much worry and distress.
“It is true that my nephew was abducted on Sunday, his father is the last born of our parents, and I was there when a call was put across to him on Sunday,” Soga said our correspondent over the phone on Monday. The assertion is accurate.
“Someone called the line yesterday while we were in the settlement, but we haven’t heard anything today, Monday. Although the police are already aware, we are also taking this chance to urge the security services to step up their efforts and make sure my nephew is freed safely.
He continued by saying that the incident had left the family shocked and that his nephew was only attempting to make a significant contribution to the nation’s food production.
“It has been a very difficult time for the family; we are emotionally and psychologically upset,” he stated. This young man is attempting to live a respectable life and make ends meet, and the fact that he is dealing with such a situation has caused needless worry among his family, friends, and well-wishers.
“We beg the government and security services to move quickly and assist in the safe return of our son.”
Calls to DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, the command’s spokeswoman, remained unanswered, and as of the time of publication, messages sent to his WhatsApp had not received a response.
Recall that on Thursday, seven kidnaped students from Gateway ICT Polytechnic, Saapade, were rescued thanks to a coordinated operation by the police, the Department of State Services, and the Nigerian Army. Three of the kidnappers were allegedly neutralized during the operation.
