Members of the All Progressives Congress in Ondo State have been urged by the party’s elders to band together and support President Bola Tinubu’s reelection in 2027.

This was said by Mr. Demola Ijabiyi, the chairman of the Elders Forum, at a meeting held on Wednesday in Akure, the state capital.

“As elders and committed stakeholders in the political development of Ondo State, we consider it part of our responsibility to speak when necessary, to commend where commendation is deserved, to advise where counsel is required, to caution where restraint has become necessary, and, above all, to promote peace, unity, and political stability within our party,” he stated.

“Every political development in Ondo State seems to have a risky tendency to be interpreted in terms of who has defeated whom. Who prevailed? Who did not win? Who is in charge of the party? Who has experienced humiliation? Who has received an elevation?

If we truly want to give President Tinubu an overwhelming victory in Ondo State, this mindset needs to change. There isn’t yet a triumph to rejoice over. There has been no fighting throughout the campaign. There hasn’t been an election. The votes have not yet been tallied.”

Therefore, mobilization, reconciliation, and growing the President’s base of support should be the focus of our political efforts. Every APC tendency that has the potential to win votes must to be taken into consideration. Every sincere supporter of Tinubu need to be motivated. Every political figure who can inspire people ought to play a part.

In light of this, we have seen various reactions to the unveiling of the campaign structure with alarm. A piece authored by one of the governor’s supporters in particular merits consideration. Normally, we wouldn’t reply to every political comment. Disagreement is a natural byproduct of politics, and democracy allows for lively discussion. However, boundaries are necessary.

Ijabiyi stated that all party members should put in their best effort to support President Tinubu’s reelection.

“The political conflicts between Ondo State leaders and individuals must not overshadow the President’s campaign. Ondo politics will take place at a later date. Governorship aspirations will come at a later time. People will have another opportunity to gage their level of popularity. Since President Bola Tinubu is the subject of this assignment, we must approach it as such.
