The state police command claimed on Sunday that a 28-year-old man allegedly purchased an iPhone 12 for N25,000 after it was taken during a break-in in Osun State, they also announced the arrest of two individuals in connection with the incident.
According to the Command, the two males were detained in connection with an alleged break-in that resulted in the theft of approximately ₦3 million worth of items, including power banks, laptops, and phones.
Eyelade Anuoluwa, a 27-year-old suspect, was taken into custody in Ibadan, Oyo State, after agents affiliated with the Ilesa Area Command obtained information.
Anuoluwa allegedly broke into the complainant’s home on July 26, 2026, and took “one HP laptop, one Dell laptop, an iPhone 12, one Android phone, two power banks and recharge cards, with an estimated total value of ₦3,000,000,” according to a statement released on Sunday by the command’s spokesperson, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi.
The defendant allegedly confessed to the crime after being moved to the State Criminal Investigation Department for additional investigation, according to the police.
According to the command, Anuoluwa revealed that some of the pilfered goods had been moved to a recipient in Ibadan as a result of extensive questioning and more inquiry.
One of the receivers, Abdullah Musa’m, 28, was apprehended in Ibadan after police officers from SCID launched an intelligence-led operation, according to the statement.
Musa was under investigation for allegedly participating in “the activities of a syndicate dealing in stolen items,” according to the police, and he also admitted to receiving the pilfered goods.
Musa further admitted, according to the statement, that “he bought an iPhone 12 from the suspect for the sum of twenty-five thousand naira (N25,000).”
One HP laptop, one Dell laptop, one small Samsung phone, one micro DP charger, two power banks, one 16GB Apple iPad, and one trash phone were among the things recovered, according to the command.
CP Ibrahim Zungura, the commissioner of police for Osun State Command, praised the officers for what he called their diligence and intelligence-led strategy, which resulted in the suspects’ apprehension and the recovery of the pilfered items.
The investigation is still on, according to the command, “to establish the full extent of the suspects’ activities, identify other persons connected to the crime, and recover additional stolen properties.”
The suspects “will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigation in accordance with the law,” the statement continued.
Additionally, the police asked the people “to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities and persons to the police through the appropriate channels.”
