Adewole Adebayo, the Social Democratic Party’s presidential candidate, has pledged to install 11 to 15 kilowatts of solar power on every Nigerian’s roof within 11 months of taking office, if elected in 2027.

Adebayo made the pledge on Tuesday while answering questions during an interview.

He declared that his administration would train Nigerians in the installation and upkeep of solar power systems and build solar-panel manufacturing facilities throughout the nation.

“I pledge to install 11 to 15 kilowatts of solar power on every roof within 11 months,” he declared.

Adebayo claimed to have trained over 2,000 individuals while experimenting with solar technology in his hometown and advising the government on power-related matters in the past.

In my hometown, I conducted an experiment. Since I produce the solar panels myself, I have trained around 2,000 people in solar technology. I work with lithium batteries.

“The inverter is the only item I lack the technological capability to do. I purchase the inverter as a result. “I handle the solar battery,” he remarked.

According to the SDP candidate, solar-panel factories might be built in Nigeria through collaborations with nations like China, Turkey, and India, and Nigerians would be taught to run them.

According to him, the planned solar clusters would both generate jobs and supply electricity for everyday home tasks.

When you combine all of that, you create jobs and can now produce up to 32,000 megawatts from these clusters. After then, you stop thinking about it. I explained to them how we would run the national grid.

The national grid serves as a fallback. You will power from there if a cluster fails, according to Adebayo.

Using the manufacturing and aviation industries as examples, he further contended that the government could strategically invest in important economic sectors.

According to Adebayo, rather than completely entrusting private operators with strategic sectors, the government might participate in industries through operating and maintenance contracts.

Regarding the production of power, Adebayo stated that his administration will give local refining first priority and deal with crude oil theft, both of which he described as concerns impacting economic growth and energy security.

He asserted that up to 900,000 barrels of crude oil were still being stolen, and that retrieving the oil would help guaranty a sufficient supply without requiring further government spending.

Additionally, Adebayo contended that since workers in industries like electricity and education would be paid, government investment in these areas might concurrently generate jobs.
