Senator Adams Oshiomhole has supported President Bola Tinubu’s choice to skip some campaign rallies in the lead-up to the 2027 general elections.
He maintained that there is no conflict between the President’s religious practices and his duty to lead the nation.
Oshiomhole remarked that Tinubu’s choice to restrict his involvement in campaign activities was a matter of preference and the right of the ruling All Progressives Congress.
He mentioned this in an interview on Friday when addressing inquiries about the President’s intended absence from certain APC campaign rallies and his religious activities in Mecca.
The previous governor of Edo State rejected claims of inconsistency in the President’s stance, asserting that there was no clash between his religious duties and his governance responsibilities.
“I don’t understand what the inconsistency is. There is no one. He didn’t declare, I will cease worshipping God, I will cease praying to establish a government,’” he stated.
He contended that the President need not be physically present at all events to fulfill his duties.
“A president is not comparable to a teacher who needs to be present in the classroom.” “However, at this moment, you can still receive online instruction,” he stated.
Oshiomhole criticized the ongoing scrutiny of the President’s decision, asserting that the matter had been thoroughly addressed and should not remain a topic of discussion.
He also contended that the APC held the authority to choose how to structure its campaign and determine the President’s appearances.
“Because you’re not among our supporters, you ought to be pleased that the President isn’t visiting every place, yet you attempt to make a case from that,” he stated.
The conversation grew heated when the senator charged the interviewer with constant interruptions.

“You pose inquiries, you insert comments, you break in.” I have traveled extensively, and I observe television channels and their hosts. “There is no inconsistency,” he stated.
He stated, “It is our right, our choice to determine our destinations, where the President travels and where he does not.”
