A 20-foot containerized truck collided with a malfunctioning Lagos Waste Management Authority truck at Apakun, inward Iyana-Isolo, Lagos State.
This was revealed on Thursday by the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority in a post on its official X account, which also included a video of the collision scene.
In order to remove the cars and restore traffic flow, LASTMA reported that its rescue team had been sent to the area together with a crane machine and a high-capacity tow truck.
“We recorded an overnight accident at Apakun inward Iyana-Isolo, involving a broken-down LAWMA truck and a 20-foot containerized truck that rammed into it,” the agency said.
“A high-capacity tow vehicle and a crane equipment have been turned on.
“The recorded casualty has been transported to the hospital, and the LASTMA Rescue Team is currently on the scene.”
A casualty was seen lying on the ground at the accident scene in the video that LASTMA posted.
However, the victim’s identity was eventually confirmed, the extent of their injuries, or whether they were still alive.
In its article, LASTMA did not give any other details on the victim, such as the type or severity of the injuries.
The collision happened in the midst of persistent worries about the security of heavy-duty vehicles on Lagos roadways, especially container trucks.
Truck breakdowns can also result in major obstacles and raise the possibility of crashes, particularly on congested roads.
In order to prevent further incidents, authorities have frequently advised drivers and heavy-duty vehicle operators to follow traffic safety regulations and make sure that vehicles that are broken down are appropriately marked and removed from carriageways as soon as possible.
