After being struck by a hit-and-run car traveling against traffic on the Magboro Bridge along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, a dispatch rider is thought to be dead.

According to reporters who visited the scene of the collision on Wednesday, the unidentified driver struck the cyclist at around 5 p.m. and quickly left the scene.

Our correspondents noticed that locals and sympathizers had already relocated the victim’s body from the center of the road to the sidewalk and covered it with a cloth for decency.

Additionally, it was noted that other dispatch riders congregated at the area to watch the occurrence and bemoan the expressway’s regulatory shortcomings.

Some observers at the site bemoaned the growing carelessness of some drivers on the motorway and described the tragedy as abrupt and regrettable.

An eyewitness known only as Mr. Michael told the reporters that two locals were in charge of removing the victim’s body from the road in order to stop other collisions.

Two individuals had already removed the body from the road when I got there.

“I asked the local vulcanizer what actually transpired, and he explained that the driver instantly zoomed off after colliding with the rider.

He claimed that the vulcanizer claimed that because there was no conveyance available at the time of the occurrence, attempts to catch the escaping driver were futile.

He made it clear that it was a car and not a trailer that struck the rider,” Michael continued.

A dispatch rider who wished to remain anonymous bemoaned the careless disregard for driving laws on the motorway and criticized emergency response delays.

Additionally, the deceased’s family had been called, according to a police officer at the scene who spoke on condition of anonymity.

When he arrived, he observed that the deceased rider’s body had been removed from the motorway by sympathizers.

“His phone has allowed us to get in touch with his relatives. Using his phone, one of the dispatch riders called his family, who informed him that they were on their way.

When I arrived, his body had been removed from the expressway. The officer stated, “I am waiting for the family to arrive so that we can move the body to the mortuary.”

The deceased’s family had not yet shown up when our correspondents departed the accident scene.

The Federal Road Safety Corps and the police had not yet released an official statement regarding the incident at the time this report was filed.
