A local vigilante who allegedly shot and killed his girlfriend, stabbed her sister, and shot another guy in Amakama, Ubakala, Umuahia South Local Government Area, Abia state, is the target of a manhunt by the Abia State Police Command.
In a statement on Thursday, ASP Maureen Chinaka, the state police public relations officer, said that the command had learned of an incident at Umuanga Amakama Community involving Chinedu Anamelechi, who was accused of shooting Ezinne Ariwodo, stabbing her sister, and shooting another local young man.
“After receiving the report, Command personnel hurried to the scene and discovered the deceased’s lifeless body in a pool of blood with gunshot wounds,” she stated.
She revealed that the wounded victims were saved and sent to the hospital, where they are still being treated.
According to her, the corpse has been placed in the mortuary for preservation and autopsy after being declared dead by medical professionals. Exhibits that were recovered from the site were brought in for examination.
Since then, normalcy has returned to the neighborhood, according to Chinaka, who advised the locals not to break the law.
“As efforts are being made to apprehend the suspect, the investigation is ongoing,” she stated.
