The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abass has expressed his worries over the recent flooding in Sabon Gari Local Government Area of Kaduna State describing the incident a tragedy.

The flood happened on Monday in the Sabon Gari areas of Kogin Mata and Tudun Muntsira, Chikaji which was caused by heavy rainfall.

The deluge caused significant property damage and forced numerous residents to evacuate.

Abbas sympathised with the flood victims and expressed sorrow that such a devastating event struck at a time when people are striving to sustain their livelihoods in a statement released on Tuesday by his media aide, Musa Krishi.

Abbas called “for urgent intervention to provide relief to those affected and urged residents to remain calm as the government works to alleviate their suffering.

The statement added, “Specifically, the Speaker appealed to the National Emergency Management Agency and the State Emergency Management Agency to swiftly assist the flood victims during this critical period.”

Speaking on behalf of the affected and the surrounding communities, Speaker Abbas Tajudeen also urged residents to exercise caution and heed the advice of the appropriate authorities when it came to flood concerns.

He also demanded coordinated efforts to address the national flooding problem on a larger scale.
