The Bauchi State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has requested that the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Hajj and Umrah review and increase the number of Hajj slots assigned to the state for the 2026 pilgrimage.
The Director of Educational Enlightenment of the board, Malam Hashimu Sadiq, made the appeal in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Monday in Bauchi.
Sadiq noted that the 2,600 Hajj slots currently allocated to the state would be insufficient to meet the increasing demand from intending pilgrims.
He added that Bauchi had successfully utilized all 2,516 slots granted for the 2025 Hajj, highlighting the strong participation and commitment among residents.
He stated that more people had indicated interest in performing the 2026 pilgrimage, hence the need for additional slots from the Saudi authorities.
He also revealed that the board has completed key welfare and logistical preparations for intending pilgrims, including medical support and accommodation.
“Five houses have been secured close to the Holy Mosque to ensure easier access and comfort for pilgrims from the state,” he said.
Sadiq added that visa processing for intending pilgrims is progressing smoothly, with only immunization pending before final departure procedures.
He urged pilgrims to remain calm and cooperative, assuring them that the board is dedicated to ensuring their safety, welfare, and a spiritually fulfilling stay in the Holy Land.
The Hajj is expected to take place between May and June 2026.
