Former Kano State Government Secretary and All Progressives Congress chieftain, Alhaji Usman Alhaji no longer holds the traditional title of Wazirin Gaya, according to the Gaya Emirate Council in Kano State.
Usman Alhaji served as SSG under former Governor Abdullahi Ganduje’s administration.
Although the Emirate did not give a specific reason for the decision, the move comes days after the former SSG, under the banner of the “APC Patriotic Volunteers,” accused Governor Abba Yusuf’s New Nigeria People’s Party-led administration of lacking direction, competence, and clear policy initiatives.
Alhaji Bello Halilu, the secretary of the Gaya Emirate Council, announced the withdrawal in a letter dated Wednesday.
However, throughout his tenure as Wazirin Gaya, Alhaji Usman Alhaji made contributions to the traditional institution and supported the promotion of the emirate’s cultural traditions, for which the Emirate Council was grateful.
“This action underscores the Emirate’s commitment to preserving the sanctity, dignity, and integrity of traditional titles in line with established customs and values.
“The general public is hereby informed and urged to take note of this development,” the statement read.
The former SSG has not responded to the ruling as of the time this report was filed.
