A building at Kagarawal Quarters, across from the District Head’s home in Gombe, was completely destroyed by a fire breakout on Wednesday, causing an estimated ₦10 million in property damage.
The incident took place inside the ATM Fire Operations Base’s operational area.
The Federal Fire Service, Gombe State Command officers, led by Assistant Superintendent of Fire Waziri James Anthony were deployed to the scene.
ASF Bashir Mu’azu, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, confirmed the development, saying the team responded quickly to the distress call and was able to confine the fire before it spread to nearby buildings.
“Our officers responded swiftly to the distress call and were able to contain the inferno before it escalated into a major disaster.
“Through timely intervention, we successfully salvaged valuables and prevented the fire from spreading to adjoining structures,” Mu’azu stated.
He praised the firefighters’ professionalism and pointed out that their prompt response prevented more damage.
He noted that the firemen’ quick action stopped additional harm and commended their expertise.
“We call on members of the public to always take proactive safety measures and promptly alert the Fire Service at the first sign of any outbreak,” Mu’azu added.
Recall that a residential structure in the Ogbaru Local Government Area of Anambra State was completely destroyed by fire in January, resulting in the loss of at least 28 apartments.
Around two in the morning, the fire began in one of the apartments and swiftly spread to the apartments next to it before consuming the shops.
