A fire incident broke out on Monday morning in a section of the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation building in Abuja.

Eyewitness footage circulating on social media, reportedly captured around 8:00 a.m., shows thick plumes of dark smoke rising from the upper floor of the multi-storey building.

The video captures dense black smoke billowing into the air, with the fire appearing to be concentrated in one wing of the structure.

The incident reportedly occurred in Section C of the building located within the Federal Secretariat complex.

Staff members were seen evacuating the area as emergency responders were alerted to contain the situation.

A fire outbreak was reported on Monday morning in a section of the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation building in Abuja.

When contacted, the Media Department of the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation confirmed the incident, stating that the fire was confined to Section C of the building and that emergency officials were already responding.

“Yes, we received the call of fire outbreak at the Head of the Civil Service building in Abuja this morning and we immediately deployed our personnel. They are currently working there,” a fire service representative said.

The exact cause of the fire had not been determined as of the time of filing this report, while investigations are expected to commence after the situation has been brought fully under control.

Authorities said further details would be provided as more information becomes available.

The latest incidents adds to a troubling pattern of blazes recorded at major federal buildings in Abuja.
