After a brief illness, popular Nigerian gospel singer Bolaji Olanrewaju, also known as Big Bolaji, aged 50 passed away on April 19 and was buried in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The final rites began on Wednesday with a funeral service and lying-in-state which took place at the Hall of Grace, Jogor Centre, Ibadan.
Family members, close friends, and numerous other gospel singers attended the solemn event to offer their final condolences.
Among those in attendance were notable figures in the gospel music community, including Tosin Bee, Mike Abdul, Bidemi Olaoba, Yetunde Are, and popular comedian, Woli Agba.
Emotional images shared on social media showed pallbearers carrying Bolaji’s flower-decked casket into the venue, while mourners gathered in silence.
Attendees wept and applauded as a poignant tribute video detailing his musical career and spiritual significance was shown during the service.
Following the service, the burial procession proceeded to All Souls Private Cemetery in Ido, Ibadan, where Big Bolaji was laid to rest.
His wife, siblings, and loved ones stood in quiet reflection as the singer was committed to the earth.
