With a stronger capital foundation, Guinea Insurance Plc may now pursue new business prospects after completing its recapitalization program and overcoming a significant regulatory obstacle.
In accordance with the relevant minimum capital requirement for non-life insurance firms under the Nigerian Insurance Industry Reform Act 2025, the company said on Friday that it had successfully completed its rights issue and private placement.
Guinea Insurance’s position among insurers acknowledged by the National Insurance Commission as having fulfilled the relevant recapitalization requirement has also been ensured by the conclusion of the capital-raising activity.
The development is a big step for the insurance, which can now focus on growing its business, fortifying its position in the market, and seizing growth prospects instead of raising more money.
The corporation claims that the recapitalization has improved its financial capabilities, regulatory status, and capital base.
Guinea Insurance stated that as competition in Nigeria’s insurance market heats up, the improved capital position offers a more solid basis for long-term growth.
As the industry adapts to the increased capital needs brought about by the new regulatory framework, the insurer is anticipated to have more capacity to underwrite risks and explore bigger business prospects.
According to the corporation, the exercise’s successful completion shows that it is prepared to function in the changing insurance market while upholding its commitments to clients and other stakeholders.
Additionally, Guinea Insurance has assured investors, corporate clients, brokers, policyholders, and business partners that its activities are still fully operational.
The company stated, “Guinea Insurance is also pleased to confirm that its name has been published by the National Insurance Commission among the insurance companies that have met the applicable recapitalization requirement.”
“This accomplishment is a noteworthy milestone for the company and strengthens its regulatory standing, financial capability, and capacity to pursue sustainable growth opportunities within Nigeria’s evolving insurance market.”
The insurer stated that it will honor legitimate claims, as well as its policy and contractual duties in the regular course of business, and that it will continue to offer insurance solutions to clients.
Guinea Insurance stated that it is now concentrating on the next stage of its development after the recapitalization was finished and NAICOM acknowledged its compliance.
According to the company, it is in a position to take on business with increased confidence and capacity while aiming to increase value for stakeholders.
Ademola Abidogun, Guinea Insurance’s managing director and chief executive officer, stated that the business is still dedicated to providing greater insurance capacity and long-term growth.
