Nelson Adepoyigi, the chairman of the All Progressives Congress in the state’s Ose Local Government Area, has been kidnapped by gunmen.
According to reports, Adepoyigi, the APC chairman in Ifon Ward 5 of Ose Local Government, was kidnapped on Monday evening along the Benin-Ifon-Owo motorway.
The specifics of how the incident happened were still unclear as of Tuesday, when this report was filed.
Confirming the incident, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Olayinka Ayanlade, said the politician was kidnapped at the entrance of his farm.
Ayanlade said, “I can confirm to you that the chairman APC ward 5 was kidnapped at the entrance of his farm along Ifon-Owo road.
“At the receipt of the report, the DPO Ifon, in collaboration with the hunters, local VGN and Nigeria Army personnel, have launched a manhunt for the suspects.”
The command urged anyone with information that could aid the rescue operation to come forward.
It is advised that citizens exercise caution and notify the authorities of any suspicious activity.
