The Emir of Ilorin and Chairman of the Kwara State Traditional Rulers Council, Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, has called on Muslims performing the Lesser Hajj in Saudi Arabia to pray earnestly for peace and harmony across Nigeria.
He emphasized that peaceful coexistence, religious harmony and maintaining law and order are crucial for the nation’s growth and development.
The Emir made the statement in a goodwill message released on Monday by his Press Secretary, Abdulazeez Arowona.
“I urge you all to use this auspicious occasion of the Umrah pilgrimage to intensify fervent prayers for Ilorin Emirate, Kwara State, Nigeria and humanity at large for the actualisation of global peace amid ongoing tension and insecurity,” he said.
The emir also urged pilgrims from Kwara State and Nigerians in general to act as positive ambassadors of the country throughout their stay in Mecca and Medina, warning them to shun acts capable of portraying Nigeria negatively.
He further sent goodwill messages to Muslims Ummah preparing to perform I’tikaf in Juma’at mosques across the country, praying that Almighty Allah would make the exercise easy for them and grant them acceptance and rewards.
The monarch also prayed for a successful Umrah exercise for the pilgrims, asking God to grant them good health and safeguard their families back home.
