The Lagos Waste Management Authority advised locals, traders, and transportation operators to dispose of waste through designated Private Sector Participant operators as it began cleaning and evacuation activities along the Lagos–Badagry Expressway corridor.
The Lagos State Government revealed this in a statement on Monday via its official social media platforms.
LAWMA’s Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Muyiwa Gbadegesin, stated that the intervention was a component of a larger compliance and environmental sustainability effort during a monitoring exercise throughout designated waste blackspots on Saturday.
He said, “LAWMA has commenced bulk waste evacuation at Alaba Rago along the Lagos–Badagry Expressway, deploying heavy-duty carriers, loaders and support teams to clear illegal dump sites.”
“Residents, traders, and transport operators are advised to dispose of waste only through assigned PSP operators and comply strictly with environmental regulations.”
Orile, Doyin, Alaba Rago, Agric, Barracks Iyana-Iba, and Agbara were among the key areas that were monitored and cleaned up.
He stated that further waste blackspots along the corridor would be included in the process.
