Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has congratulated the Muslim Ummah and Christian faithful in the state and across the country on the commencement of the 2026 Ramadan and Lenten seasons.
The governor urged adherents of both faiths to use the sacred period to strengthen their devotion to God and reaffirm their commitment to service to humanity.
Makinde noted that the overlap of the two fasting seasons offers a unique opportunity to promote the values of love, unity and religious harmony.
He said the overlap of the fasting seasons underscores the shared moral principles common to both faiths and urged worshippers to remain mindful of this lesson throughout the period.
He commended Muslims and Christians in Oyo State for maintaining peaceful coexistence and for their support of his administration since 2019, noting that it has contributed to the state’s steady development.
The governor also called on the faithful to offer prayers for the continued peace and development of Oyo State and Nigeria, as well as for leaders at all levels of government.
He assured residents that his administration would continue to prioritize their welfare and implement policies that serve the collective interest.
