Makinde to flag off distribution of food palliatives today under its SAfER programme

Oyo state Governor Engr. Seyi Makinde will today Wednesday 30th August 2023 flag off the distribution of food palliative in Oyo town in line with effort to ameliorate economic hardship due to fuel subsidy removal.

The commissioner for information and orientation, Prince Dotun Oyelade who discloses this in a press briefing shortly after the state executive council meeting explains that the flag-off programme will be performed simultaneously across various zones of the state by the Deputy Governor, the Speaker, Chief of Staff and other government officials.

Prince Oyelade says the actual roll out of the food palliatives will commence on Thursday to target 200,000 households with over 1 million residents to benefit in the first phase, promising an equitable distribution without political interference while using the COVID-19 palliative distribution data template.

Explaining further the breakdown of the intervention and budgetary framework, the secretary of the committee for Sustainable Action for Economic Recovery (SAfER), and commissioner for budget and economic planning, Professor Babatunde Musibau reels out the different sectors for the distribution cutting across transportation, food palliatives, food security, health care, SMEs with an estimated budget of 8.6 billion naira.
