The Bauchi State Police Command has apprehended a 45-year-old individual for reportedly assaulting his neighbor’s eight-year-old daughter in the Bauchi metropolis.
The command revealed this in a statement released by its spokesperson, SP Nafiu Habib, on Tuesday.
Habib reported that the 32-year-old mother of the victim claimed that the suspect, named Muhammad Makama, enticed her daughter into his room and purportedly assaulted her.
The report stated, “The event was communicated to ‘E’ Division Yelwa, Bauchi, on July 5, 2026, at approximately 22:14 hrs by the 32-year-old mother of the victim, living in Dorawan Dillalai, Bauchi.
The complainant claimed that on the same day at around 1211hrs, a man named Muhammad Makama, aged 45, from the same address, enticed her 8-year-old daughter into his room and sexually assaulted her.”
“After receiving the report, police officers quickly sprang into action.” The victim was transported to the Police Clinic for examination and medical care.
It mentioned that the suspect was also brought to the same facility for care after being reportedly attacked by upset community members before being released.
