Popular activist, Deji Adeyanju has verified that the Nigerian Police Force has detained singer and social media influencer, Darlington Okoye, aka Speed Darlington, who has been reported missing.
The lawyer Adeyanju disclosed that Speed Darlington, better known by his stage name Akpi, was taken into custody in Lagos last Friday and then transferred to Abuja, where he has remained in detention since.
He stated that Burna Boy, a Grammy Award-winning artist, had filed an official complaint, which served as the basis for the arrest.
He, however, did not give details of the petition.
The activist revealed this in a post on his X handle on Tuesday.
He wrote, “We just spent the last 30mins with Speed Darlington and he narrated how he was arrested in Lagos Friday last week, moved around and eventually brought to Abuja and has been in detention since then. Petition against him was written by Burna Boy, we can confirm.”
Earlier, a social media influencer, Constance Nwogu, raised an alarm regarding the purported disappearance of Speed Darlington.
