A day-old baby boy who had been left in a polythene bag has been rescued at the Surulere neighborhood of Alhaji Masha Road in Lagos State.

According to information obtained, a social worker who is unknown and works at a Surulere hospital noticed baby’s cries coming from a polythene bag while she was traveling to her destination.

When the social worker discovered what was inside the polythene bag, she immediately saw the infant boy and hurried him to Randle General Hospital in need of immediate medical attention.

It was discovered that the infant was reacting well to the medication. The Divisional Police Officer and a family support unit team visited the location of the event.

Benjamin Hundeyin, the public relations officer for the state police, verified the incident.

He stated, “The social worker reported the case of the day-old infant left by unknown individuals in a polythene bag at the Surulere Division on April 15, 2024, at around 1:40 p.m.

“The infant has been saved and is reacting well to care. A family support unit team and the Divisional Police Officer made an appearance at the scene. The investigation is now ongoing”.
