The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), signed into law the Nigeria Start-Up Bill, on Wednesday.

This was announced by Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami, after meeting with the President at the State House.

According to Pantami, the Start-Up Law passed on July 20, 2022 was a bill initiated by the executive arm and seeks to create an enabling environment for tech-based start-ups in Nigeria.

Furthermore, he said the law holds enormous benefits for the economy and will aid young start-ups to identify and express their business challenges much easier.

The minister who noted that the ICT sector contributed 18.42 per cent to the economy in 2022, said the new piece of legislation would also provide a N10bn fund for eligible start-ups nationwide.
