As the 2027 general election campaigns get off, Musiliu Obanikoro, the Director-General of the All Progressives Congress Campaign Council in Lagos State, has urged party members to unite and cooperate.

Obanikoro asked party members to back the APC’s candidates in the elections and move past the divisions that surrounded the party’s primary elections.

He gave a speech on Wednesday at an interfaith prayer held in Lagos by the party to commemorate the start of campaigning.

Campaigns for the 2027 general elections were scheduled to begin on September 9, 2026, according to the Independent National Electoral Commission.

Members may have backed different candidates during the primary elections, according to Obanikoro, but at the end of the process, they had to unite behind the party’s candidates.

He exhorted party members to run their campaigns amicably and to refrain from letting political differences escalate into interpersonal disputes.

“We competed honorably. Let’s run a respectful campaign. He said, “Let’s differ without turning into adversaries.

According to the former senator, the APC needs to stay cohesive since its members will compete against one another in the general elections.

In spite of their distinct interests and differences, he believes that members should approach the campaign with a shared goal.

The purpose of the prayer session, according to Obanikoro, was to seek divine intervention prior to the electioneering season. He added that prayers were just as important to political campaigns as preparation and diligence.

“We came together yesterday with a straightforward but profound goal: to entrust this political journey to God before the campaigns start,” he stated.

Throughout the campaign, he asked members to pray for the party’s leaders, candidates, supporters, and members to be wise, protected, and guided.

Today’s prayer is straightforward: let God lead the way. He declared, “Let Him lead our leaders and defend our members and supporters. Let Him go before our party and our candidates.”

Obanikoro asked the party’s followers to be loyal and disciplined throughout the campaign while concentrating on Obafemi Hamzat’s election and President Bola Tinubu’s reelection.

He urged members to refrain from doing any actions that would sour relations or cause rifts inside the party and in society at large, stating that political power was only temporary.

As they strive for the party’s victory, the APC leader urged members to approach the campaign season with “one purpose, one message, and one determination.”

He also prayed for peace and advancement in Nigeria and Lagos State, as well as for the party’s leaders and candidates to succeed.
