Hon. Sheriff Aderemi Adeojo, the Executive Chairman of Ido Local Government, has praised Oyo State Governor Engr. Seyi Makinde for his administration’s free health mission programs, which provide citizens of the Pacesetter State with accessible, prompt and cost-free healthcare services.
During a one-day stakeholder meeting on high-delivery IMPACT Project indicators for Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health (RMNCH) at the Ido Local Government Hall, Hon. Adeojo disclosed this information.
The initiative’s main goals are to lower infant mortality, increase access to basic healthcare services, and improve facilities through contemporary equipment, renovations, increased immunization coverage, improved malaria management, and comprehensive child survival measures in order to improve grassroots healthcare delivery, the state-led IMPACT Project is reviving Primary Health Care Centers (PHCs).
In order to guarantee appropriate maintenance and efficient feedback mechanisms, the project works with the Oyo State Primary Health Care Board (OYOPHCB) to support 24-hour service delivery, emergency care systems, drug revolving funds, and community engagement through Ward Development Committees.
Within Ido Local Government, the IMPACT Project currently operates in eight facilities: Akinware Health Centre, Akufo Health Centre, Alada Health Centre, Ido Primary Health Centre, Ilaju Primary Health Centre, Kogue Health Post, Ladunni Health Centre and Omi Adio Health Centre.
During the event, awards were presented to top-performing facilities for the third quarter of 2025 based on key health indicators, including skilled birth attendance, full immunisation of children under one year, IPT3P and Penta 3 vaccination coverage, Rapid Diagnostic Testing (RDT) for fever in children under five, ACT treatment for confirmed uncomplicated malaria cases, postnatal visits within two to three days of delivery and distribution of Long-Lasting Insecticidal Nets (LLINs) to pregnant women.
Omi Adio Health Centre was named the best-performing PHC in Ido Local Government with the most fully immunized children under one year old and the highest IPT3P and Penta 3 coverage.
Hon. Adeojo praised the project’s development and advocated for its expansion to further facilities within the council area while presenting the award received from IMPACT representative Mr Yemisi Oyediran. He then presented the medal to Matron Sakirat Ayodele and Pastor Egbedokun Solomon, Chairman of the Ward Development Committee, commending Omi Adio Health Center for its achievements and urged other facilities to follow suit.
Additionally, the Chairman praised the Ward Development Committees for their persistent efforts in raising awareness about Governor Makinde’s free healthcare programs.
“Please redouble your efforts. Our people must know that their Governor cares deeply and prioritises their health,” he urged.
A minute of silence was also observed during the meeting in remembrance of Hon. Adesina Adegbenga, the late Supervisory Councillor for Health. Strategies to enhance performance in both high- and low-performing facilities were examined by stakeholders.
Key officials in attendance included the Head of Local Government Administration, Alhaji Sarafadeen Aminu; the Medical Officer of Health, Dr Justina Orimoloye; and Mr Oladosu Vincent of Ido PHC, among others.
