Eight people have lost their lives in a road crash that occurred opposite Unity bank along Zaria Road in Jos, the Plateau State Capital.
The crash happened in the early hours of Thursday, involving a trailer and a bus transporting students of the university of Jos.
According to eyewitnesses, eleven people were on board the bus.
Seven victims were confirmed dead at the scene, while another passed away in the hospital, bringing the total number of fatalities to eight.
Eyewitnesses said the bus was speeding and attempted a wrongful overtaking, causing the driver to lose control and crash.
Three survivors are currently receiving treatment in the hospital, and all the victims were male.
The Public Education Officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Peter Longsan, confirmed the incident in a statement on Thursday.
Longsan said, “Today, 11th December 2025, FRSC Plateau State Sector Command received a distress call at about 0230 hours, reporting a road traffic crash opposite Unity Bank on Zaria Road, Jos.
