The Police Command in Lagos State reports that it has detained two suspected thugs over the death of a vigilante member in the Epe area of the State.

The Command’s spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin made this known on Thursday.

According to Hundeyin, at approximately 4.30 p.m. on Monday, the Epe Police Division received a report about the attack of 45-year-old Oluwafemi, an Ibile Vigilante member, by suspected hoodlums on Friday at about 2 p.m.

He claimed that when the vigilante member tried to stop the thugs from scavenging contaminated frozen turkeys from the dump, they attacked him at a refuse dump site in Afero Village, Epe.

The image maker claims that the vigilante member was rushed to Epe General Hospital after suffering injuries to various parts of his body. After receiving treatment, he was treated and discharged from the hospital.

“However, on July 15, 2024, at about 2.30 p.m., his condition relapsed, and he was taken back to the hospital.

“Doctors on duty battled to save his life, but unfortunately, he gave up the ghost. His corpse has been deposited at the mortuary.

“The two suspects have been arrested in addition to the 12 already handed over to task force on Saturday over scavenging contaminated turkeys.

“Investigation is ongoing,” he said. (NAN)
