The Adamawa State Police Command found 197 Tramadol sachets and detained two people in connection with suspected transnational drug smuggling in a border operation.

On behalf of the Commissioner of Police, SP Suleiman Nguroje, the Police Public Relations Officer, signed a statement on Wednesday disclosing the arrest.

According to the statement, the Command, “in its ongoing fight against drug trafficking and trans-border crimes… recorded a significant breakthrough with the arrest of two suspects in possession of One Hundred and Ninety-Seven (197) sachets of Tramadol.”

Muhammad Sanusi, 48, of Garoua, Cameroon Republic, and Muhammad Mustapha, 32, of Dorayi, Kano State, were named as the suspects.

They were “intercepted by operatives of the Border Patrol Fufore Unit, during an operation,” the statement said.

Preliminary investigation, according to the Command, “reveals that the illicit substances were transported from a South-Eastern state and were being conveyed through Adamawa State with the intention of smuggling them into the Republic of Cameroon before they were intercepted.”

The Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris, “commended the personnel of the Border Patrol Unit for their vigilance and Professionalism,” and directed “the Command CP’s Monitoring Unit to take over the case for diligent investigation and further necessary action.”

The Command stated that it “remains resolute in its commitment to ridding the state of drug-related and illicit crimes.”
