Funmi Faith, a 32-year-old, has been taken into custody by the Lagos State Police Command on charges of reported abuse and inflicting injuries on a kid.
Her detention was confirmed by the command’s spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, in a message published on his verified X handle, @benHundeyin, on Wednesday.
In a now-viral video, the woman asked the kid to take a bath outside after abusing her and causing multiple injuries to her body.
According to Hundeyin, the culprit was apprehended on Tuesday.
“The woman captured in a now viral video maltreating a female child has been arrested.
“She was arrested by the Oke-odo Police Divisional on June 4,” he said.
The child has reportedly been turned over to the Lagos State Ministry of Youth and Social Development for appropriate care and housing, according to the person who took the photo.
