Six suspects have been taken into custody by the Anambra State Police Command after they raided a drug den in Oko community, Orumba North Local Government Area, and found a lot of different hard narcotics.
Anambra State Police Command Spokesman, SP Tochukwu Ikenga said in a news release on Thursday that the exercise was conducted in response to Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu’s observation that drugs are the primary cause of most criminal activity.
Ikenga went on to say that the CP has underlined the important role that substance abuse plays in escalating criminal activity and has ordered a massive crackdown on all criminal activity in Oko and the surrounding area.
The statement read in part, “Consequently, the police operatives attached to the Special Anti-Cultism Squad Enugwu Ukwu in the early hours of June 25, 2025, burst a drug den in Oko, arrested six suspects and recovered a large quantity of various hard substances.
“The suspects arrested include: Joseph Chukwura, Emmanuel Chukwuemeka, Ifeanyi Agbanari, Igwe Chineche, Mmadufor Chinecherem, Chibueze Chukwumankpam, and Mmadubom Uchenna, all males between the ages of 24 and 35 years respectively.
