The 266th head of the Roman Catholic Church, Pope Francis, will be buried on Saturday, according to the Vatican.
Following an extended period of health issues, including a recent respiratory crisis that left him severely unwell, he passed away on Monday at the age of 88.
According to the death certificate issued by the Vatican, the Pope died in his apartment.
He had been treated for more than five weeks after being sent to the hospital early this year due to bilateral pneumonia.
As preparations for the funeral proceed, the general congregation of cardinals is set to begin Tuesday in Vatican City.
This gathering will also determine the start date of the conclave to elect a new pope.
