Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, the senator for Kogi Central, has offered her deepest sympathies to the families of those affected by the terrible car accident in Okene, Kogi State, which killed six people and injured five more.
Arogbonlo Israel, her chief press secretary, released a statement in which Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan urged for increased vigilance from drivers and described the situation as extremely upsetting.
“My heart goes out to the families of the victims and the injured. May the bereaved families find solace and strength in this difficult time, and may the injured recover swiftly and fully,” she said.
In addition to offering consolation to their loved ones and prayers for the deceased’s souls, she urged drivers to closely follow traffic laws in order to prevent similar tragedies of this nature.
The Senator advocated for increased awareness efforts to assist lower the likelihood of accidents on Nigerian roads, in particular for commercial drivers, and emphasised the need for road safety education.
She further urged relevant government agencies to investigate the cause of the crash and implement measures to prevent a recurrence. “The government must prioritise road safety and take concrete actions to ensure that our roads are safe for all users,” she stated.
