Power supply has returned to Taraba State after the successful upgrade of the Yola-Mayo Belwa-Jalingo transmission line, restoring electricity to Jalingo and surrounding areas.

The Transmission Company of Nigeria announced in a statement on Wednesday that full power restoration was accomplished at 7:00 p.m. on January 13, 2026, following the completion of all pre-commissioning tests and the required soak period in accordance with standard operating protocols.

Contractors were able to complete vital transmission line upgrades during the scheduled outage, which started at 2:16 pm on January 9.

“These included line stringing from the terminal tower to the newly constructed line bay to enable the energisation of newly installed 150MVA power transformers at the Jalingo and Mayo Belwa Transmission Substations,” the statement said.

According to TCN, in order to make line bay extension and transfer operations at the Yola Transmission Substation easier, the Gombe–Yola transmission line was temporarily opened on January 11.

The Yola Electricity Distribution company is one of the main recipients of the improvements, the company emphasized.

“This enhancement will significantly improve power reliability, increase transmission capacity, and support growing electricity demand in Taraba State and neighboring areas,” the statement added.

Additionally, TCN expressed gratitude to electricity users for their patience during the outage.

“We appreciate the patience and understanding of electricity consumers during the outage and reaffirm our commitment to strengthening the national transmission grid for reliable and efficient power supply across the country,” the statement concluded
