Twenty people have been slain by suspected Boko Haram terrorists in Mayo-Ladde, Hong Local Government Area, Adamawa State, and Pubagu, Askira Uba Local Government Area, Borno State.

According to reports, the terrorists overran local security personnel and killed people after storming the two border settlements on Tuesday at around 4 p.m.

Mada Saidu, the chairman of the Askira Uba Local Government Area, confirmed the tragedy on Wednesday, stating that nine people died in the Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State and eleven people died in Pubagu, Borno State.

“Yes, there was an attack in Pubagu, Askira Uba, yesterday, Tuesday, around 4 p.m.,” he stated. There were eleven fatalities. Nine individuals were slain at Mayo-Ladde, Hong Local Government Area in Adamawa State.

He claims that a river divides the two places.

“There have been 20 deaths overall, 11 from Askira Uba in Borno and 9 from Hong Local Government Area, Adamawa,” he continued.

According to Saidu, the rebels overran local security forces, entered the communities, and started shooting at locals.

”Later on, the troops and I went there. At first, there was local security, which included vigilantes and hunters. However, the terrorists overwhelmed them,” he claimed.

According to eyewitnesses, the attackers arrived on motorcycles and proceeded to plunder and demolish homes for hours.

“The terrorists stormed our community in Pubagu yesterday evening. For hours, they fired intermittently, setting homes and businesses on fire. After more than an hour of operation, they killed both males and women”, stated a survivor who wished to remain anonymous.

According to the source, local security organizations did not put up much of a fight against the attackers.

”The hunters and vigilantes in the area did their best. Regretfully, the terrorists were significantly more numerous and well-equipped. The opposition was insufficiently powerful. Later, the hunters also ran for their life”, the source stated.

Four soldiers and one civilian were reportedly killed by Boko Haram terrorists in the Mussa hamlet in the Askira Uba Local Government Area on April 16.

The civilian casualty was a woman, according to Mada Saidu, the chairman of the local administration, who verified the prior occurrence.
