President Bola Ahmed Tinubu expressed his profound sadness over the passing of Chief Michael Abiodun Ponnle, the founder of MicCom Engineering Nigeria Limited and a well-known businessman, industrialist, and philanthropist.
Chief Ponnle, an accomplished engineer passed away at the age of 86.
He owned the MicCom Golf and Resort in Ada, Osun State, and served as Chairman of the well-known MicCom Wires and Cable Company until his death.
President Tinubu characterized the late Ponnle as a visionary professional whose contributions to the engineering sector and Nigeria’s economic development were important and durable in a condolence statement released on Friday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
He pointed out that MicCom Engineering Nigeria Limited become a respectable indigenous engineering and industrial company thanks to the industrialist’s commitment, innovation, and integrity.
“Engineer Ponnle provided employment opportunities to many young people. He contributed meaningfully to national development as he also helped to uplift his immediate community,” the President said.
Tinubu also emphasized Chief Ponnle’s lasting influence on the tourism sector, especially through the creation of the MicCom Golf and Resort in Ada, Osun State, his hometown.
He also recognized the late businessman’s contributions to the state’s educational system, characterizing them as a component of his larger dedication to the development of human capital.
The President extended his sincere condolence to the Ponnle family, MicCom Engineering Nigeria Limited’s management and employees, as well as the deceased’s friends and business acquaintances.
He prayed for the late senior statesman’s soul to rest in peace and for the bereaved family to find solace and strength.
