The Kano State Fire Service has confirmed the death of two women in a pond in the Gezawa Local Government Area of the state.
This was announced on Wednesday in Kano by Saminu Abdullahi, the service’s public relations officer.
”We received a distress call on Tuesday morning at about 11:15a.m. from a vigilance group at Gezawa that two women had drowned in a pond.
“The relatives of the victims informed the vigilance group that the women worked at a” Zobo” (Hibiscus) processing company.
“They said that the women had gone to the pond to get themselves up after closing from work and drowned.
“We quickly sent our rescue team to the scene and recovered the corpses from the pond,’ he said.
According to him, Musa Garba, a police constable with the Gezawa police division, received the bodies.
In order to avoid regrettable situations, the PRO encouraged the public to avoid approaching rivers and open waters.
