World physical activity day is celebrated April 6th of every year to disseminate benefits of adopting a more active and a healthy lifestyle by engaging in physical activities daily.

Health Experts admonishes residents to engage in physical activities for healthy lifestyle as world commemorates physical activity day.
According to world health organization, the theme for 2022 is Move to live”

In commemorating the day, correspondent sola Filani sought experts opinion on the importance of the international day’s awareness

World physical activity day was formally inaugurated on the 6th of April,2002 by world health organization,WHO, marking its 20th time of celebration across the world in the year 2022.

physical activity involves walking, cycling, wheeling, sports, active recreation amongst others and can be done at any level of skill.

Speaking on awareness of World physical activity day, the Director, Exercise Is Medicine, Nigeria, who also doubles as Deputy provost, College of medicine University of Ibadan, Professor Fatai Adeniyi said Regular physical activity helps to prevent and manage noncommunicable diseases such as heart disease, stroke, diabetes and several cancers.

He further advised that citizens should participate in regular physical activities most especially at home.

Also, a physiotherapist, Dr.Ibiduni Alonge, said citizens to engage the body in movement activities as it also helps prevent hypertension, maintain healthy body weight and can improve mental health, quality of life and well-being.

From the angle of professionalism,she highlighted various physical activity which one can indulge in,to exercise the body system.

Living a healthy life is best adjudged to following due procedures,taking precautionary measures and a proper check on body system at regular intervals.
