Dr. Kelechi Anosike, the Peoples Democratic Party’s candidate for governor of Abia State, has promised to prioritize youth development and agriculture in his administration, stating that youth must be given the opportunity to make significant contributions to the state’s advancement.
At the Ohuhu Youth Day, which took place at the Afugiri Central School in Ohuhu, Anosike made this statement and asked the state’s youth to back his bid for governor in 2027.
Anosike emphasized that young people would play a significant role in forming society and argued that any administration lacking a youth program would not comprehend the future.
He declared, “Any government that does not have a program for the youths does not understand the future because the youths are the future.”
Anosike stated that Operation Feed Abia, a purposeful back-to-farm policy intended to engage youngsters in agriculture, will be part of his welfare agenda. He recognized agriculture as a major route for job development and food security in Abia.
He announced a N1 million grant to boost the group’s agricultural program and praised the Ohuhu youth leadership for positively involving young people in agriculture and ICT.
If elected governor, Anosike also pledged to give young Abia people the chance to work virtually for businesses in Asia and Europe.
“We will go beyond this if elected. Through what we refer to as the Abia Global Opportunity Agency, we plan to launch programs that will allow people in any section of Abia State to work for businesses in Asia or Europe,” he stated.
He called for the support of Ohuhu youths and urged them to view his goal of becoming governor in 2027 as a team effort.
“I have faith in Ohuhu Youth’s and all Abia State’s youth’s future.” “Call me on any other program you’re doing, and I’ll help you,” Anosike continued.
Royal High Chief Ugochukwu Edozie, the event’s chairman, commended the youth leadership for their vision and initiatives that were making a difference in people’s lives.
Edozie also encouraged the organization to hold Ohuhu Youth Day every year.
Chief Uchenna Iheanacho, the president of the Ohuhu Welfare Union Youth Wing, previously stated that the organization has trained more than 300 people in farming and other skills.
According to Iheanacho, the organization needed roughly N75 million for its upcoming programs, which included free farming and agriculture loans, campaigns against drug addiction and cultism, health awareness campaigns, ICT training for fifty students, and vocational training.
He urged the government, businesses, and donors to help the Ohuhu kids accomplish their goals.
The Ohuhu Youth Wing of the Ohuhu Welfare Union also presented Anosike with a Visionary Leadership Award during the ceremony.
Eze Nnamdi Ofoegbu, the Umudiawa Autonomous Community’s traditional ruler, gave him the prize.
