In order to fortify the party ahead of the 2027 general elections, chieftains of the Labour Party in Nsulu, Isiala Ngwa North Local Government Area of Abia State, have reiterated their steadfast support for Governor Alex Otti and established three strategic committees.
Following a thorough discussion at a strategic meeting called by the chairman of the stakeholders and the governor’s chief of staff, Pastor Caleb Ajagba, the resolutions were included in a statement released on Monday.
The stakeholders praised Otti for what they called the extraordinary transformation occurring throughout Abia State, especially the implementation of important projects in Nsulu, such as the Umuomaiukwu Smart School, the Abia International Airport, and a number of road infrastructure projects.
They unanimously decided to increase unity within the Labour Party in Nsulu, emphasizing that all members, regardless of when they joined the party, have same status and should be treated with respect, inclusivity, and equal opportunity to contribute to the party’s expansion.
Ajagba and the Joint Acting Secretaries, Drs. Chibuzo Emeruwa and Enyichukwu Olumba, jointly endorsed the communiqué, which stated that the forum decided to increase grassroots mobilization and sensitization in all Nsulu communities “with a view to effectively communicating the achievements of the present administration and consolidating support for the Labour Party ahead of the 2027 general elections.”
“We reaffirmed our commitment to supporting all Labour Party candidates at every level of the upcoming elections, recognizing that the success of the party depends on collective responsibility, unity of purpose, and coordinated action,” the statement continued.
“We appreciate the Chief of Staff’s assurances that the state government has approved compensation for those impacted by the land acquisition at Abia Airport. We are certain that each and every eligible beneficiary will get their fair share.
We applauded the government’s continued efforts to solve the Nsulu nation’s electrical problem, particularly in Umunna Nsulu. We hope that work will start soon.
We urged eligible Nsulu indigenous people to fully utilize the Abia State Government’s many empowerment and capacity-building initiatives, such as TECHRISE, the Abia Leadership Academy, the Abia Smart School Initiative, and other youth development programs.”
The stakeholders supported the formation of three strategic committees—the Empowerment Committee, the Voter Education and Sensitization Committee, and the Mobilization Committee—to help carry out the resolutions.
“To identify, profile, and coordinate eligible beneficiaries for various government empowerment, entrepreneurship, employment, and capacity-building programs” was the Empowerment Committee’s mandate.
“To educate eligible voters on the importance of Continuous Voter Registration (CVR), Permanent Voter Card (PVC) collection, civic participation, and the achievements of the Labour Party-led administration,” the Voter Education and Sensitization Committee was founded.
Prior to the 2027 general elections, the Mobilisation Committee was tasked with coordinating stakeholder engagement, strengthening party structures at the local level, encouraging member reconciliation where needed, and mobilising support for all Labour Party candidates.
Additionally, the stakeholders called for the expeditious completion of planned and ongoing infrastructure projects in Nsulu, especially strategic road projects and other vital public facilities that might improve socioeconomic growth throughout the region.
By encouraging issue-based campaigning, peaceful cohabitation, and responsible democratic involvement, they urged all Labour Party members and supporters to behave with maturity, politeness, and political decorum throughout the electioneering period.
The forum also thanked Ajagba for his deliberate leadership and dedication to Nsulu’s growth, reiterating its group’s commitment to cooperating to maintain good governance and boost democratic engagement.
