A Karmo Grade I Area Court, Abuja, on Thursday, sentenced a driver, Shedrack Paul, to seven months in prison for cheating a trader of hair wigs valued at N96, 500.

The 29-year old convict was convicted after he pleaded guilty to two counts of criminal breach of trust and cheating.

The Magistrate, Alhaji Inuwa Maiwada, however, gave the convict an option of N8, 000 fine.

Maiwada also ordered the convict to pay N96, 500 to the complainant, Imeh Edet, of Durum II, Abuja.

The Police Prosecutor, Mrs Ijeoma Ukagha, had told the court earlier on November 21, that Edet, reported the matter at the Utako Police Station.

She said that the convict, was entrusted with hair wigs to deliver in Lagos but he dishonestly converted the said goods to his personal use.

Ukagha said that all efforts to recover the hair wigs proved abortive.

The prosecution said that the offence contravened the provisions of sections 312 and 322 of the Penal code.
