The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) is arranging another confrontation with the Federal Government over what it called the administration’s arranged burden of Integrated Personnel Payroll System (IPPIS) on its individuals.

The association heads have called a crisis National Executive Council (NEC) meeting where it concurred that the association should start activation of individuals for an activity against the administration.

The President had apparently coordinated that any specialist not on the IPPIS would never again get pay.

The Chairman of the University of Ibadan (UI) section of the association, Professor Deji Omole, on Sunday said ASUU was not against responsibility yet would oppose any endeavor by the legislature to disregard existing laws and independence of the college.

Omole said the association had offered to help the Federal Government in planning the suitable format to address the eccentricities of college instructors in the IPPIS.

In any case, the association chief noticed that the administration appeared to be keen on utilizing what he called the World Bank-structured exploitative format.

He said the administration format would subjugate erudite people as it doesn’t make arrangements for installment of unpaid debts on advancement, study leave stipend, obligation recompense, among others.

As indicated by him, the Federal Government’s format was intended to eliminate college teachers over 60 years, which he said is against the new arrangement, where educators resign at 70 years.

Omole blamed the Federal Government for purportedly exhibiting disdain for presenting what he considered unlawful approaches that adversely influence the smooth running of the colleges.

“Compelling burden of IPPIS on college laborers is an infringement of the college self-governance act. It is, in this manner, illicit. While ASUU isn’t against responsibility with respect to the college overseers, government ought not be permitted to demolish state funded colleges in its implied cases of battling debasement.

“Our individuals ought to stay engaged and submitted in our battles to secure state funded college training by opposing powerful inconvenience of IPPIS on college laborers,” the association said.
