Hanan Buhari, the daughter of the late former president of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, claims that her father instilled in her the virtues of honesty, fortitude, and selfless service. She attributes her life’s development to his leadership.
After being named one of Africa’s 100 Most Notable Peace Icons at the Notable Africans Leadership and Business Summit, Hanan made the comments on Thursday night in Marrakech, Morocco.
Hanan gave an emotional homage to her late father and dedicated the honor to his memory, according to a statement released on Friday by Kingsley Amafibe, the summit’s project director.
“I dedicate this honor to my late father, President Muhammadu Buhari, whose leadership, self-discipline, and steadfast faith in me molded me into the woman I am today.
I learned the value of honesty, fortitude, and unselfish service from him. His trust in me given me the strength to believe in myself, and I will continue to maintain the principles he instilled in me by fighting to empower women and contribute meaningfully to society,” she said.
Amafibe also congratulated Hanan Buhari on the award recognition, calling her as a “role model whose commitment to the advancement of women continues to inspire a new generation of African leaders.”
Political leaders, businesspeople, policymakers, and diplomats from all over Africa gathered for the summit, which was organized by the DAVDAN Peace and Advocacy Foundation and 100 Most Notable Peace Icons Africa, to honor those who have made noteworthy contributions to business, sustainable development, leadership, and peacebuilding.
