The Kegbo of the Atikori Kingdom in Ijebu-Igbo, Ogun State, Oba Ibitoye Solaja, has appealed to sons and daughters of the community, both at home and abroad, to work together and support efforts aimed at advancing the development of the kingdom.
The traditional ruler made the appeal during an interview at his palace on Saturday while speaking ahead of activities lined up to commemorate his 25th coronation anniversary, which is scheduled to hold in December.
Oba Solaja stated that the development of the Atikori Kingdom rests on the collective dedication and contributions of its people, emphasizing that the community is home to accomplished professionals across diverse fields.
He noted that the kingdom has produced several distinguished individuals whose expertise, influence, and wealth of experience should be leveraged to drive the community’s growth and development.
He said the kingdom has produced eminent vice-chancellors, professors, medical doctors, engineers, architects, entrepreneurs, authors, and many other accomplished sons and daughters who have made remarkable contributions in their respective fields.
The traditional ruler urged all indigenes of Atikori, both within Nigeria and in the diaspora, to remain dedicated to the growth and progress of the kingdom. He encouraged them to channel their knowledge, expertise, resources, and influence toward advancing the community’s development and ensuring a more prosperous future.
According to him, Atikori has historically set the pace for other communities, with many following its example. He therefore called for sustained unity, visionary leadership, and selfless service to preserve the kingdom’s rich heritage while laying a solid foundation for future generations.
The traditional ruler also called on both the Ogun State Government and the Federal Government to increase investment in infrastructure and essential public amenities within the kingdom.
He noted that the Atikori Kingdom is home to major public institutions, including Abraham Adesanya Polytechnic and the Nigerian Correctional Service Academy, stressing that the presence of these establishments justifies greater government support and development efforts.
He noted that greater investment would strengthen the community’s education sector, boost economic opportunities, and drive faster overall development.
Oba Solaja thanked God for His faithfulness in preserving him during his 25 years on the throne and prayed for lasting peace, progress, and continued development across the kingdom.
He stated that the activities scheduled for the silver jubilee celebration include the commissioning of community development projects, the installation of traditional chiefs, a praise concert, and a thanksgiving service.
The monarch called on indigenes, friends of the kingdom, and other well-wishers to join in celebrating the milestone anniversary.
